Students at Cheslyn Hay Academy, located on Saredon Road, are celebrating today after receiving their GCSE results.
After much hard work studying and preparing, students at Cheslyn Hay Academy, which is part of Windsor Academy Trust, are collecting a set of strong GCSE results as national grading returns to pre-pandemic levels.
In a year where outcomes, nationally, have returned to 2019 levels, attainment and average points scores have risen significantly compared to 2019 levels. Even given some of the disruption seen during the pandemic, students have improved on the performance of their counterparts from 2019.
The school achieved well, with students attaining an average grade of 4.9. 72% of students achieved the crucial ‘standard pass’ in both English and Maths, whilst 47% achieved the more challenging ‘strong pass’ in both subjects.
Subjects that saw particular success included Art, where 58% of students achieved grades 7 or above; French, where 39% achieved those top grades; in Religious Studies 37% got top grades; and in Computer Science the figure was 35%. In technical and vocational courses students did especially well in Health & Social Care (63% Distinction or better); and in Hospitality & Catering (55% Distinction or better).
Cheslyn Hay Academy students are now looking forward to progressing onto their chosen further education institutions, with many remaining at the school’s Aspire Sixth Form to study for A Levels and vocational qualifications.
While all pupils have done incredibly well, there are some standout individual achievements. These include:
Collecting her GCSE results today, Bethan Cooke, said:
“I'm so happy with my results. I didn't expect so many grade 9s but I'm glad my hard work and the support of my teachers got me there. I'm excited to start my A levels at Aspire Sixth now. I'm doing maths, biology and chemistry, and hopefully physics as well!”
Tom Macdonald, Headteacher at Cheslyn Hay Academy, said:
“I am so proud of our students and their performance - they have had some fantastic achievements and through their incredibly hard work have emerged stronger following COVID. We are particularly excited to see so many of them staying with us to join our Aspire Sixth form.”
Dawn Haywood, Chief Executive at Windsor Academy Trust, said:
“I am delighted to see students from across the Windsor Academy Trust family achieve such strong results in their GCSEs today. I couldn’t be prouder of our students and our staff who have worked so hard for these successes.”
