Year 9 Mini Options

In Years 7 and 8, students study a very broad curriculum including a wide range of Arts and Technology subjects.  In Year 9 we provide students with an opportunity to identify a preference for certain Arts and Technology subjects that they would like to study and this is called the Mini-Options process. This is because we see value in allowing students in Year 9 to follow a slightly more personalised curriculum, which includes all of the core and Humanities subjects, and allows them to study specialisms within the Arts and Technology subjects. By doing so, we believe that students will study a broad and balanced curriculum whilst spending more time studying in areas in which they have a greater interest.  It also gives us the opportunity to offer a wider range of subjects in Year 9 in these areas that we wouldn’t otherwise be able to, such as Dance and Textiles.
