Year 7 Football
10th November 2022
This week the Year7 boys started their football journey at Cheslyn Hay with back to back fixtures - Monday v Perton Middle, Tuesday v Cannock Chase.
Monday night's fixture didn't go to plan with a squad of 13 depleted to 10 due to illness and injuries. However the boys lined up in a trusty 2-4-2 formation against a confident Perton Middle school. The pitch shone with the floodlights shining down as we kicked off on a slightly smaller pitch than expected (double booked astro turf), we dominated play from the off . Josh Tennant picks the ball up from a throw in on the left side of box, squares the ball to Fin Brown who drives the ball home bottom corner 1-0 CHA!! The boys continued to pile on the pressure and the provider turned into goal scorer, toe poking home a fantastic ball from Olly Edwards to make it 2-0. Two could of been three as the ref awarded a penalty for a clear handball but Tyler Grifiths smashed it down the middle..
Half time 2-0 CHA
Second half kicks off, it's cold and miserable but the lads continue to set the game alight with their flowing football. Fin Brown smashed home a 20 yard freekick left to right, a sublime strike 3-0. The game finished with yet another penalty this time the dead ball specialist (Fin) put it away for 4-0. Game over MOTM Tyler Griffiths - bar the Penalty he linked defense into attack, broke down any counter attacks and won every aerial battle.
Match Day Two Cheslyn Hay vs Cannock Chase.
Today was a majestic performance. With last nights victory putting us in the zone we continued in the same vein. Playing on a full 9v9 pitch allowed us time and space to play the free flowing football we are undoubtedly capable off;
1-0 Fin Brown dazzles down the right ball played into the box it's pinball football before Ryley Day bundles it home.
2-0 After a relentless attack Tyler strikes a cleared ball from 20 yards!
3-0 Fin Brown and Will Allen combine to put in Olly Edwards on the left hand side of the box to stroke the ball across the keeper - great goal!
4-0 The keeper fumbles a score from Charly Smith
Half Time
The flood gates open....
5-0 Tyler Griffiths drills one from the edge of the box
6-0 Will allen sweaties it to Elias to tap home (You've never seen a bigger smile of joy on a goal scorers face)
7-0 Harry Haimer lays the ball off for Will to slot one home (Well deserved goal)
8-0 Ryley Day at the back post after Will Allen floats past three defenders
9-0 Tyler drives from the halfway line with the ball and fires home a super strike
10-0 Fin Brown picks the ballup on the left, cuts inside and finishes the game off!!!
What a Team Performance
