Students at Cheslyn Hay Academy in South Staffordshire Celebrate a Strong Set of GCSE Results

21st August 2025

Students at Cheslyn Hay Academy are celebrating today after receiving their GCSE results.

After much hard work studying and preparing, students at the school, which is part of Windsor Academy Trust, are collecting a set of strong GCSE results and getting ready to take their next steps in their educational journey.

The school's overall performance saw a higher proportion of top grades compared to national averages. While the national figure for grades 9-4 is 67.4%, our school proudly reports a 77.6% figure. This demonstrates the high academic standard across all subjects. A remarkable 70.9% of students achieved a pass (grade 4 or higher) in English, significantly exceeding the national figure of 59.7%. In Maths, the success continued with a 69.5% pass rate (grade 4 or higher), surpassing the national figure of 58.2%.

We saw exceptional performance across a range of subjects including Art, where over half of students achieved grades 8 or 9, Religious Studies, where 36% of students achieved a grade 7, 8 or 9 and Computer Science where this was achieved by 29% of students.  In technical and vocational courses, students did especially well in Dance where over a third of students achieved a Distinction and Health and Social Care.

Cheslyn Hay Academy students are now looking forward to progressing onto their chosen further education institutions, with many remaining at the school’s Aspire Sixth Form to study for A Levels and vocational qualifications.

While all students have done incredibly well, there are some standout individual achievements. These include:

Isla Rosser said: “I am so pleased with the results I’ve got, exactly what I wanted to achieve. I’m glad all the hard work and help from the teachers led to this”

Jenny Pritchard, Headteacher at Cheslyn Hay Academy, said:  “I am incredibly proud of all our students for their achievements, which reflect their hard work and dedication. We have so many inspiring success stories, with our young people reaching their full academic and personal potential. This is also a testament to the unwavering support of their parents and our dedicated staff who have guided them on this journey. Seeing so many of our young people do better than they expected is a powerful reminder of what they can achieve. We are especially delighted that a record number are choosing to continue their education with us at Aspire Sixth, and we look forward to their continued success.”

Dawn Haywood, Chief Executive Officer at Windsor Academy Trust, said:
“I am delighted to see students from across the Windsor Academy Trust family achieve such strong results in their GCSEs today. I couldn’t be prouder of our students and our staff who have worked so hard for these successes.”
